There’s a New Bible for Kids with Dyslexia

Lifeway Christian Resources has introduced the CSB Grace Bible for Kids, designed for children ages 7 to 12 with dyslexia. The new Bible, created to improve readability for young readers experiencing visual stress, aims to make God’s Word more accessible.

📖 Why It Matters: For families of children with dyslexia, reading can be a frustrating experience. This Bible provides a tool that could help kids connect with their faith in a meaningful way without the typical barriers.

🔤 What’s Happening:

• The Bible uses a specially designed typeface created by 2K/DENMARK, with input from Cambridge University, to make reading easier for dyslexic children.

• The typeface features additional spacing between letters and words, larger letterforms, and heavier baselines to prevent letters from appearing distorted.

🔍 Between the Lines: Dyslexia affects a significant portion of the population, with 15% to 20% of people dealing with a language-based learning disability. This initiative by Lifeway could be a game-changer in helping children with dyslexia engage with Scripture.

• According to the International Dyslexia Association, 70% to 80% of students with learning disabilities struggle with reading.

📅 Catch Up Quick: The CSB Grace Bible for Kids is just the first step. A version for teens and adults is scheduled to release in February 2025, offering the same readability-enhancing features.
